What is BeP?

BeP is the largest and most active studentparty represented in the different advisory boards of Leiden University. Our goal is the best possible Masters for every student. We hold seats on the University council and numerous Faculty councils, as well as in educational committees.

Our goals:

Throughout the University, BeP strives for:

* Good facilities as a basis for
* Good educational programs, and
* Good extracurricular opportunities, which lead to
* The best possible Masters for every student

Besides our main targets, we also have goals for every faculty,

Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences

* Solution to the existing problems with the new semester system
* Stimulate extracurricular activities
* Improvement of the cafeteria (opening hours, quality-price ratio)

Faculty of Law

* BeP is in favor of stimulating participation, but against mandatory classes.
* Bep congratulates the faculty on the facilities, and would like the organizational structure to follow suit.
* Bep is in favor of more (and more challenging) classes.

Faculty of Arts

* Individual language departments should remain
* Implementation of English as the main language should be strictly functional.

Faculty of Science

* The collaboration with the University of Delft should be improved
* Instructors should take more responsibility for the quality of their courses.
* All students should have access to Faculty buildings at all times without having to show IDs.

What we achieved so far:

Bep Achievements throughout the University:

* Student participation in the self evaluation of departments
* Implementation of a minimum requirement of English language skills for instructors
* Stimulation of honors programs in the form of extra funding

We have also achieved numerous feats at Faculty level:

Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences

* Thanks to the BeP petition an official inquiry has been implemented concerning the functioning of the new semester system
* The initial 300.000 euros that were made available for improvement of classes have been made structural

Faculty of Law

* Better options for people who need extra time during exams
* Procedures concerning exam evaluations have been improved

Faculty of Arts

* A new printer was installed in the Faculty building
* Student influence in appointing new staff
